Episode 1: “Pilot”
I started Vintage Sunday in 2023 after my sister and brother in law came over to my teeny tiny, first apartment and saw some of my paintings on my gallery wall.
I’ve always found joy in painting. It started in elementary school. Education was always very important to me, but I would never miss a chance to skip class and go to the art room. Though I was good at school and testing, I never felt passionate about any of it. I lied to myself and said I wanted to be a dentist, a marketing guru, anything that would give me a clear path. That left me with a degree I didn’t know what to do with and a sickening amount of school debt. (Sound familiar?)
When my sister and brother in law said I should start my own business, I kind of rolled my eyes. It sounded cliché and unpromising. Even though creatives are often viewed as dreamers, unorganized, and flighty, I thrive on routine. My sisters always made fun of me for being so regimented to the point where I would make a daily to do list, even on summer break. The thought of being an artist was unpredictable and scary!
But I was graduating college and still had no direction as to what I wanted to do with my life. So I started painting more and more, I thought of a business mission, and I went for it. With the help of my sister, I came up with Vintage Sunday Studio. And although it’s only part time, I feel the most grounded I have ever felt. I know this is what I’m meant to be doing and I am so excited you are here for the journey!
